On My 27th Birthday
My dad destroyed the emerging bee hive
outside the front window.
He used water to flush them out
and soon, my dad was done and
the bees were gone.
It made me sad
to think about the queen.
When the water flooded in,
I wonder what she felt.
I hope she knows, she did not fail.
I was the villain. i told my dad about the bees
trying to find a home
in the small crack
right in front of the window.
It should have been a safe place.
I am 27 today.
